1957 Ceylon 5 Rupee Coin Ring

This ring means a lot to me: it directly influenced so much of my process and where I have come to in my coin ring journey. My dear neighbour, Hazel, wanted a ring from me after the death of her husband and she wanted this particular coin: a big coin for small hands.

Being adamant, I wanted to make this project work for her. By removing the reeded edge and sanding away the interior detail I was able to make a ring that was wearable for her. The resulting ring signalled a depart from the “traditional” style of coin ring that I had made to that point.
