1964 Japanese 1000 Yen Coin Ring
This Japanese coin ring made from a sterling silver coin in the UK, shipped worldwide for free. The coin is a sterling silver 1000 yen commemorating the Tokyo Olympics of 1964.
These very special commemorative coins were minted only in 1964 to celebrate the Olympics coming to Tokyo, Japan. The coin shows Mount Fuji encircled with the sakura cherry blossoms as well as Japanese characters denoting the denomination of the coin.
With the reeded coin edge carefully removed with a jeweller's saw, this ring is much more balanced and has a beautifully symmetrical comfort fit inside. Shown with both a polished and antiqued finish, the details of the cherry blossom are such high relief that they really stand out with or without antiquing. In addition to the cherry blossom, there are two phrases in Japanese kanji saying "State of Japan" and "1000 Yen". The inside here smoothed down to a comfort fit and polished for a high shine.
